Strawberry Marshmallow Cereal Treats
The countdown to valentine’s day is on. IF time is not in your favor the next few days but still need a treat to send with kids to school or quick treat for galentine’s day try these! THe tartness of the freeze dried strawberries make these so good.
Finding other freeze dried berries could be so fun to experiment with also and change up the flavor of these bars. Let us know if you try any other fruits!
STRAWBERRY MARSHMALLOW CEREAL TREATS
7 TBSP butter
20 oz. marshmallows
2 oz. freeze dried strawberries (I think raspberries would be good too)
7 c. rice krispie cereal
Before starting to make these bars, gather and prep everything you will need. Once the marshmallow mixture cools it gets very hard to work with. Spray a 9x13 pan, set aside. Blend the freeze dried strawberries into a fine powder. The finer the better, any chunks absorb moisture and are tough to chew.
Plan to either mix in a large mixing bowl or large pot, I've had better luck in a large pot.
Melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows, stirring constantly until almost all melted. We leave a few whole marshmallows in mine. Mix strawberry powder into marshmallows. Immediately add cereal to this mixture and combine until cereal is completely coated. ** Consider this your warning. Once you go to mix the cereal and marshmallows together it can get very hard to mix. That strawberry powder makes it very tacky. The bigger the bowl the better. I've had better luck mixing in a large pot that I've melted the mallows in. The warm pot helps keep the marshmallows easier to mix. In a mixing bowl once the warm marshmallows touch the cold bowl it's very hard to combine it all. Lightly press into greased 9x13 pan. Cool completely.
Freeze dried berries can sometimes be difficult to find. Walmart, Target, and Sam’s Club have been my go to places to find them in stock.
