Southern Salad (PIneapple Pretzel Fluff)

Think oreo fluff…but fruity, and with a crunch. Another one of grandma bernie’s recipes that we can’t imagine not having at her house during the summer. SUch a light dessert that can be served at all of your summer bbqs.

  • PINEAPPLE PRETZEL FLUFF

  • 1 1/2 c. crushed pretzels

    3/4 c. butter, melted

    1/2 c. sugar

    8 oz. cream cheese, softened

    1/2 c. sugar

1 (8 oz.) tub cool whip

1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine pretzels, butter, and sugar. Spread into greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 7 minutes. Set aside to cool. When cool break into pieces.

Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Stir in cool whip and pineapple, or fruit of choice. Chill before serving. Add pretzels at time of serving.

*For the lemon version we simply layered the cream cheese mixture and lemon pie filling in a container and chilled until ready to serve. Then sprinkled on the pretzels.

WE really believe that there are tons of options for this salad. Change out the pineapple for any fruit of your choosing. We plan to make this with fresh blueberries and strawberries for this weekend. I’m also thinking layering with any flavor of pie filling would be good as well.
