Tangy Grilled BBQ Chicken

Now that it’s warm enough to be grilling all the time, it’s easy to run out of ideas outside of the basic hamburgers and hotdogs. THis sweet and tangy chicken marinade is so good! Prep ahead of time for supper, or to feed a large crowd after a day on the water. THe stickiness of the marinade creates the perfect charred spots on the grill. Set some of the marinade aside for a great bbq sauce for dipping.

  • Tangy BBQ Chicken

  • TANGY BBQ WINGS

    5 lbs chicken (wings, legs, sliced chicken breast)

    2 1/2 c. hot & spicy ketchup

    2/3 c. white vinegar

    1/2 c. honey

    1/2 c. brown sugar

    1 tsp salt

    1 1/2 tsp worcestershire

    1/2 tsp onion powder

    1/2 tsp chili powder

    1 tsp liquid smoke

    Combine everything but the chicken together until smooth. We prefer to set about 1/2 cup of sauce aside for dipping later, or adding to chicken after cooked. In a large tupperware cover chicken with marinade. Let sit at least 6 hours, overnight is best. Grill chicken after marinating.


As you read through this recipe you will notice that it has spicy ketchup, I was able to find spicy ketchup, but if not regular will do. To be quite honest, the spicy ketchup did not add any heat. If you would like some spice, I would suggest some cayenne pepper, or red pepper flakes.
